was surfing the web, and as usual for interesting things on msnbc.com ..
so this 2 caught my eye, interesting to me ..
read and you'll understand ..the Helix Nabula, which amateur astronomers have nicknamed " the eye of God "or " eye of sauron " shines out in all its infrared glory in this Feb 12 image.the nabula is actually the exploded remains of a star that once looked alot like our sun. The white dwarf is visible as a tiny dot in the center of the picture.the red color in the middle of the eye denotes the final layers of gas and dustblown out when the star died ..a picture of the surface of one of Saturn's moons, Titan ..A NASA spacecraft has found evidence of huge seas, likely filled with liquid methane or ethane, in the high northern latitudes of Saturn's moon Titan.
One of the seas is larger than any of the Great Lakes in North America and possibly only slightly smaller than the Caspian Sea, which lies between Russia and Iran and is the largest lake on Earth. There is no proof yet that these seas contain liquid, but their shape and darkness indicate smoothness, and other properties point to the presence of liquid, Lunine said.
The liquid is probably methane or ethane because those compounds are abundant in clouds in Titan's atmosphere.from clockwise ..1. The core of a massive star in a distant galaxy collapses, and deep inside, twin beams of matter and energy begin to blast their way outward. 2. Within seconds, the beams have eaten their way out of the collapsed star, seen from Earth as a gamma-ray burst 3. Within seconds, the beams have eaten their way out of the collapsed star, seen from Earth as a gamma-ray burst 4. The stellar core has shrunk into a magnetar, whose magnetism is what powers the long-lived afterglow of X-rays.
